EPiServer opens its doors for business in Southern Africa

By EPiServer
Stockholm, Sweden, 13 Nov 2009

EPiServer, the world's fastest growing provider of platforms for Web content management (WCM) and online social communities, has opened the doors of its South African operation to address local demand for creating and managing engaging Web sites more effectively and efficiently.

EPiServer is in expansion mode and the company is experiencing rapid growth both within existing markets and geographically. The company has now established its presence on the African continent with an office in Cape Town and will focus on expanding its existing network of partners and customers across Southern Africa.

The office in South Africa will be managed by Birger Lundgren, co-founder and previously CMO at StreamServe, one of the largest privately-held software companies in Europe.

Birger outlines his vision for the Web in South Africa: “The South African Internet market is currently in a transition from slow and expensive to fast and affordable. This will lead to a growth in demand for next-generation Web applications in both the private and public sectors, all of which will harness the power of social media and interactivity.”

EPiServer, which has experienced 40% business growth over the last 12 months and 46% licence growth in the first nine months of 2009, is the creator of the world's fastest growing commercial WCM platform.

Birger sees EPiServer as being in a great position to power this next wave of the Web across Southern Africa: “Companies and organisations in Africa are ready to take the next step - building Web sites which engage the visitor and make use of the possibilities that exist within social media. At the same time, companies today require their online initiatives to deliver rapid return on investment, which EPiServer has a proven track record of doing with thousands of Web sites worldwide being powered by the EPiServer platform. Our goal is to be the leading supplier of WCM systems in Southern Africa.”

Peter Larsson, CEO of EPiServer, agrees with Birger's analysis of the market: “Expansion into another continent is very exciting. I expect the region to quickly develop into an established centre of EPiServer knowledge with our partners in South Africa rapidly becoming an integral part of our global EPiServer ecosystem. The characteristics of the market provide an excellent fit with EPiServer CMS and the maturity of the mobile market means that the mobile support provided by the platform, including the iPhone, offers many interesting aspects to explore.”
