Telstra dumps scandal-ridden Satyam

Telstra has dumped scandal-ridden outsourcing partner Satyam from an applications support contract believed to be worth $32 million a year, reports Australian IT News.

The embattled Indian outsourcing firm's IT contracts with Telstra will be picked up by EDS, sources told The Australian.

Telstra chief executive Sol Trujillo, who leaves the company on June 30, sat on the board of EDS before joining the telco in 2005. Telstra declined to confirm or deny having dropped Satyam, saying the decision about its supply arrangements with individual vendors would not be disclosed to the media.

HCL Technologies, a global IT solutions provider, has secured a $350-million deal from Reader's Digest spread over seven years to provide a wide range of outsourcing services, states The Hindu.

The scope of the deal with Reader's Digest Association includes development of software applications, infrastructure support, network security, data storage, disaster recovery and support for data centres, a company statement said.

These solutions will be enabled through an integrated helpdesk in 14 languages - Portuguese, French, Russian, Czech, Spanish, Polish, Finnish, German, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Chinese, Romanian, Slovak and Turkish.

Mariner, a provider of innovative IPTV solutions and technologies, has formed a partnership with UK-based Endurance Technology, marking Mariner's official entry into Europe, says MarketWire.

The partnership with Endurance Technology, a leading outsourcing provider to the Digital TV and Broadband industries, will provide immediate services and implementation support for European customers.

During 2009, Mariner plans to establish a base in the UK for a regionally focused business development operation to specifically address the European opportunity.
