Eaton recently announced the acquisition of MGE Office Product Systems for EUR425 million.

Christelle Larkins, area manager: South Africa, East Africa and Indian Ocean at MGE Office Protection Systems, explains that with this transaction, Eaton has combined its strength with MGE Office Protections Systems to create a larger, stronger, power quality business with a significantly enhanced competitive position.

"Acquiring MGE Office Protection Systems solidifies Eaton`s position as the world`s second largest supplier of power protection solutions. It`s thus a very positive development for MGE Office Protection Systems, giving us the ideal opportunity to harness our collective strengths."

By adding MGE Office Protection Systems to its business, Eaton has expanded its ability to compete globally through innovative products, new geographic markets, additional distribution channels and a strong manufacturing presence.

"MGE Office Protection Systems brings Eaton valuable technology, innovative ideas and bright minds, which will be invaluable as we work to enhance our collective product portfolio," says Larkins. MGE Office Protection Systems will form part of Eaton`s Electrical Group.

Larkins says that it`s business as usual at the office at the moment: "The company is engaged in a detailed review of operations at a country level to ensure the most effective use of the resources now available." She adds that customers will now be able to enjoy the complementary product lines of both companies, providing them with a greater array of products and services.

"Products from both companies will continue to be sold through existing sales and distribution channels."

As for the response from the team: "We`re all really excited about this new chapter and the opportunities it brings. We`re looking forward to expanding into new markets and strengthening our position even further," says Larkins.

With this formidable pairing of two already successful companies, both customers and the competition should keep watching this space. Larkins says the exceptional range of current products will be matched by even more innovative and intelligent ones in the years to come.
