ATTO products certified by Computer Associates

Johannesburg, 21 May 2004

Dexchange is pleased to announce that the ATTOiPBridge and FibreBridge products have been certified interoperable with Computer Associates` (CA) BrightStor ARCserve Backup software. This `ca smart` certification further extends ATTO`s leadership position in the iSCSI market.

The iPBridge 2500 is a triple-channel Gigabit Ethernet-to-SCSI bridging device that provides the ability to integrate, for example, an LTO or SDLT tape library into an IP storage area network. With the ATTO iPBridge, users can attach existing SCSI storage devices to IP networks. This affords them the ability to deploy cost-effective iSCSI storage networks.

CA`s BrightStor data availability solutions provide complete end-to-end storage protection for all critical business storage assets from the laptop to the mainframe. BrightStor ARCserve Backup enables organisations to ensure the integrity and availability of critical business data on Microsoft Windows, NetWare, Linux, Unix and MAC OS X servers and clients.

By utilising the ATTO iPBridge, system integrators and IT organisations can:

* Improve ROI by connecting current SCSI storage to IP networks;
* Increase productivity by allowing many users access to available storage;
* Reduce cost with centralised administration;
* Increase flexibility with the ability to access SCSI tape libraries attached to the bridge through Ethernet SAN systems using iSCSI capability or via NAS systems using NDMP capability.
* Improve efficiency with a centralised IP-based storage system using Ethernet as a storage network framework.

"This certification clearly demonstrates that ATTO continues to lead in the iSCSI storage router market," said Dexchange CEO, Mike Smith. "As a leader in enterprise management software, CA has clearly acknowledged the vital role iSCSI can take in storage networking. We`re thrilled that ATTO`s iPBridge is the first such product to receive ca smart certification."

"Companies seeking to optimise the cost-efficiency of their data storage operations can benefit by leveraging their IP network infrastructure," said Nigel Turner, CA`s senior vice-president of BrightStor storage management. "The combination of ATTO`s ca smart-certified iPBridge and BrightStor ARCserve Backup enables iSCSI-Ethernet connectivity while providing unmatched ease-of-management for all storage resources across the environment."

The ATTO iPBridge 2500 supports both iSCSI and NDMP requirements for SANs and NAS in a single hardware solution and combines proven ATTO SCSI hardware and software technology with Gigabit Ethernet, one of the world`s most widely accepted means of transporting data.

For users wishing to implement a storage area network (SAN) or direct-attached fibre channel storage, ATTO`s CA-certified FibreBridge products enable BrightStor ARCserve Backup users to utilise their legacy SCSI storage for backup purposes via Fibre Channel connectivity.
