Exponant, a leader in delivering ground-breaking solutions using smart technologies and highly skilled people, today announced a Security Monitoring system (SSMS), which is an operational intelligence, business-critical solution based on a Splunk technology platform.
SSMS is a commercially-off-the-shelf (COTS) solution that provides all of the unique change monitoring benefits that Splunk provides, together with a comprehensive set of components that will drastically reduce the 'time-to-production' for organisations. The solution includes collectors for closed or API-based data sources and the relevant development capabilities to support that; a Splunk architecture framework for security monitoring in large businesses; data acquisition expertise for dealing with real-world scenarios; and security consulting from certified information security professionals (CSSPs) in the areas of log management and security information and event management (SIEM).
"SSMS is integrated and deployed by a team of certified Splunk solution engineers with the appropriate skills and experience," commented Wolfgang Selzer, Executive Manager at Exponant. "It is delivered within a proven methodology that supports the evolutionary adoption cycle of a Splunk-based system within its target organisation, and can be used either on its own or in support of a tradition SIEM solution. It is also gratifying to note that Splunk itself has recently been rated as a leader in Gartner's 2013 magic quadrant for SIEM.
"This approach brings many benefits for the user," continued Selzer. "These include a significantly reduced 'time-to-production' scenario; a reduced integration and customisation effort as a direct result of the use of the SSMS components; and the provision of a framework for the security event management discipline that is so vital for companies, regardless of their size.
"Security monitoring is a major activity for many organisations; the rapid handling and resolution of any issues that arise are vital, and SSMS can be a strategic tool in this context," concluded Selzer. "This is the second of several applications of this nature that we will be introducing over the coming months. Earlier this year, we announced CDAS, our change detection and alerting system."
