Sage Pastel has introduced mobile apps for its Sage Pastel Payroll & HR and Sage Pastel Accounting desktop software to help businesses save time and be more productive.

Madelein van der Watt, development manager at Sage Pastel Payroll & HR, says Sage Pastel Payroll & HR now offers a mobile app that lets employees apply for leave, file business travel expenses and update their personal information from their phones or tablets.

Expenses and leave applications are routed to the employee's manager for approval, and then on to the payroll administrator. The payroll administrator is able to automatically update the Sage Pastel Payroll & HR system at the click of a button.

Also, approved leave applications no longer need to be recaptured in the payroll, saving a lot of time on administration and paperwork. HR managers are able to focus more on employee wellness initiatives and less on repetitive tasks relating to administration, says Van der Watt.

Sage Pastel Accounting software is now available on mobile devices, with a brand new app that allows the business and its employees access to customer information, create and send quotes, and generate sales orders on-the-go. There is access to selected data from the accounting package on the user's smartphone wherever they are, she adds.

Sales representations are able to provide quotes and process orders for their customers immediately during a site visit, while having access to the latest inventory and price lists. Sales staff become more efficient and will come across as more professional and organised.

Van der Watt says small business owners, employees and managers live on their smartphones because they're always out and about and under pressure to juggle a number of tasks at the same time. The new mobile apps will help them do more while they are away from their desk -saving time and being more efficient.

"Our desktop software already assists in improving business processes. With our mobile apps, we hope to help business fit in with the employee's lifestyle. Instead of having to stay at the office late while capturing leave forms and sales orders that came in at the last minute, the manager can leave the office to go to gym or have an early dinner with their spouse or spend some extra time with the family knowing that the documents submitted by their employees or sales representatives from their mobile devices are already waiting to be processed in the Pastel software," concludes Van der Watt.

The mobile apps are available on Android with IOS coming soon.
