Everyone loves a winner - and there will be plenty of past and present winners in the room at this year's IITPSA President's Awards, to be held at the Montecasino Ballroom on Thursday 6 November.

The top five finalists for the prestigious 2014 IT Personality and Visionary CIO of the Year awards have been announced, and the winners of each category will be revealed at this exclusive business breakfast.

The event presents a unique opportunity for attendees to network with the industry's top achievers and innovators, and show their support for the advancement of the ICT sector in South Africa.

"The awards go far beyond a networking opportunity for attendees," says Ranka Jovanovic, editorial director at ITWeb. "This is one event that is not about the individual businesses, or developing sales leads. It's about joining forces with peers and stakeholders to generate ideas that will benefit the entire ICT industry for the greater good of the country."

She says the industry has long said there is not enough support for skills development and leadership growth in SA. "This is the perfect opportunity for the industry to put its money where its mouth is, and rally together for the greater good."

In addition, Jovanovic says a portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Qhubeka, a charity that helps people progress by giving bicycles in return for work done to improve communities, the environment or academic results.

The audience, which includes several past winners as well as this year's top 10 finalists, will enjoy a packed programme of inspirational presentations and keynotes from some previous recipients. These include the joint winners of the 2013 IT Personality of the Year, Prof Barry Dwolatzky, JCSE director at Wits University, and Mteto Nyati, group chief enterprise officer at MTN, who will share how they are nurturing young ICT talent and emerging technology entrepreneurs.
