Dynamic managing for the FBI

General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics, has been awarded a task order by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to provide IT management services at its headquarters and field offices, according to PR Newswire.

The contract has an initial value of $13.7 million with a one-year period of performance. The total potential value of the award, if all options are exercised, is $83 million over five years.

Under the contract, General Dynamics will provide help-desk support, programme management, enterprise operations services and IT field audit support.

Innovative IT management essential

The most successful technology companies are those that adopt the most innovative approaches to IT services management, according to a new study states iHot Desk.

Research carried out by Unysis surveyed 139 businesses and found that one-quarter were successful because of their ability to manage IT resources to achieve key business objectives.

Bart De Maertelaere, VP of IT outsourcing strategy at Unisys Global Outsourcing and Infrastructure Services, said executives now realise the benefits that can come from focusing on innovation in technology service management.

HP releases management products

To make certain that services meet all functional and performance objectives and are ready for production deployment, HP introduced new versions of its SOA testing products, HP Service Test and HP Service Test Management, says Al Bawaba.

"Customers who want to scale their SOA-based deployments recognise they must make SOA a seamless part of their quality and management infrastructure to support business requirements," said Mahmoud Mounir, software director, HP Middle East.

In addition, HP announced new SOA management capabilities with HP Business Availability Centre for SOA, HP Diagnostics for SOA and HP SOA Policy Enforcer that together better monitor services in production, resolve operational issues and deal with changes to services.
