Organisations globally struggle with responding to cyber security incidents and lack of formal incident response plans and insufficient budgets are the main causes of this challenge.
This is according to the third annual Study on Cyber Resilient Organisation, conducted by the Ponemon Institute and IBM Resilient.
The report says that 77% of respondents admit they do not have a formal cyber security incident response plan (CSIRP) that is applied consistently across the organisation. Just 31% of respondents feel they have an adequate cyber-resilience budget in place.
Interestingly, German and Australian executives are most likely to believe in the value of cyber-resilience, according to the study.
Recognition among senior leadership about how enterprise risks affect their organisations' ability to withstand cyber attacks has increased from 47% to 57%. They also are more aware that cyber-resilience affects revenues, brand and reputation.
