HPE, SAP partner to deliver SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud with GreenLake

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is partnering with SAP to deliver the customer edition of SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud with HPE GreenLake, as a fully managed service at the edge, in the customer’s data centre or colocation facility of their choosing.

This partnership is an extension of HPE and SAP’s decades’ long relationship.

Customers will be able to keep their SAP software and data on-premises while benefiting from a subscription-based cloud experience from SAP with HPE GreenLake.

According to HPE, the new offering from SAP – SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud, customer edition – addresses a key market requirement for SAP customers. Research from IDC, reveals that organisations have 70% of their applications outside the public cloud.

There are several reasons for this, such as application entanglement, data gravity and sovereignty, security and compliance concerns, and the unpredictable and high costs of the public cloud. With expensive data ingress and egress charges, users can pay more than 2.5 times the cost of storing the data in public cloud, reveals 451 Research.

HPE GreenLake’s cloud services and compliance analytics tools will enable SAP to offer on-premise operations and application management services that SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud is known for at the customer’s location of choice.

Peter Pluim, EVP, global head of Enterprise Cloud Services at SAP, says the new deployment model for SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud is a response to customers, such as public sector and regulated industry customers, who want the flexibility and service level of a managed private cloud, but need to keep their systems in their own data centres.
