The Heidelberg-based SNP Schneider-Neureither & Partner successfully reached Capability Maturity Model Integration's (CMMI's) Maturity Level 2.
In early 2013, the SNP software development team, headed up by Dr Andr'e Sch"ungel, introduced a continuous improvement process on the basis of CMMI in order to further optimise software development processes and reach CMMI Maturity Level 2. Within the scope of this optimisation, agile product management with Scrum was introduced.
With the help of SynSpace, the company was able to analyse the current situation in the summer of 2013, which, in addition to many strengths, also revealed weak points to the team.
The improvement processes which were subsequently introduced led to a further optimised and faster software and development process. The measures had a measurable, extremely positive impact on the efficiency and quality of the development process.
By reaching CMMI Maturity Level 2, the team demonstrated that SNP product development delivers what clients order on schedule, on budget, efficiently and with top quality. Since an increasing number of clients expect and specifically ask for CMMI or ISO 9001 certifications, SNP is not going to settle for the current maturity level and is now preparing for Level 3 - because, as SMMI project manager Daniel Kohl knows: "Those who stop pursuing constant improvement have already lost."
