Johannesburg, 27 Aug 2018

Lucia Khanyisa Ngceba
Certification: CISA
Job Title: Senior IT Auditor
Company name: Vodacom

Role within the ISACA SA Chapter: Certification Co-ordinator

1. What inspired you to become a member of the South Africa Chapter Board?

I took an interest in ISACA while I was a junior IT auditor back in 2011, and ever since then, I have been an active member. I have attended the ISACA conferences as well as volunteered to assist in the monthly chapter meetings. Arlene-Lynn Volmink, President of ISACA, suggested that I put my name down for board nomination and, surprisingly enough, the members voted for me... the rest is history.

2. How has being on the board benefited you professionally? Please be as specific as possible.

It has given me a different perspective of how things work in the background, ie, preparing for the conference, chapter meetings, etc. Being a board member has also helped me to connect with different people from different backgrounds.

3. Describe your day-to-day duties as an ISACA South Africa Chapter Board member.

I am the certification co-ordinator, so my day-to-day duties involve explaining to members the requirement to be certified after passing the exam, acknowledging the exam top scorers with the South African chapter, looking for ways to retain our current members to be certified.

4. What strategic goals are you pursuing within your portfolio?

1. Increase the number of ISACA members and certified members per certification.
2. Retain our current members.
3. Encourage the non-members to join and register with ISACA.
4. Make members aware of the benefits of passing the ISACA exams.

5. How do you spend your free time away from work and from your role on the ISACA SA board? What do you do for fun?
I am an outdoor person, so I spend most of my time with family and friends. I like to braai and I have been recently introduced to fishing, even though I cannot swim.

6. What advice would you give to those thinking about volunteering their services to the ISACA SA Chapter?
Please do volunteer, you get to learn a lot about yourself and others.
