The ITWeb Security Summit, Africa's premier IT security event, is lending a hand to those less fortunate by donating a portion of the ticket proceeds from its Security Solutions Expo to the Hackers for Charity aid organisation.
Taking place from 11-13 May 2010 at the Sandton Convention Centre, the ITWeb Security Summit comprises a two-day conference profiling best practices in addressing current IT security concerns, as well as the Security Solutions Expo, a niche exhibition of cutting-edge security solutions and products, and the practical demonstration thereof.
ITWeb will donate R20 from every Expo ticket sold to Hackers for Charity, a virtual charity organisation that aims to assist impoverished people the world over through IT-oriented skills programmes and a dynamic 'food for work' scheme. The organisation also provides technical assistance to those charities that can't afford IT services.
“We really believe in the work Hackers for Charity is doing. We also think it's fantastic that the organisation has found a way to make IT work for less fortunate communities, and believe this initiative should be supported,” said ITWeb Security Summit event director Angela Wressell.
To raise further awareness of Hackers for Charity and allow delegates to contribute to the cause of their own accord, the ITWeb Security Summit will also host the organisation for free at the Expo.
Delegates can look out for the Hackers for Charity stand in the exhibition area, as well as the information leaflets in their conference packs.
