Intact Software Distribution, the distribution house responsible for the Avira and G Data security software brands in SA, has expanded its product range, offering three new brands as part of its security software portfolio.

In addition to publishing and distributing G Data and Avira in sub-Saharan Africa, Intact Software Distribution will now also be able to provide its resellers with the Bitdefender, Kaspersky Lab and StorageCraft ranges, Intact says in a statement.

It adds that the Bitdefender products feature anti-virus and anti-spyware, personal firewall, privacy control, user control and backup for corporate and home users.

"PC Tuneup and Performance Optimiser are available in the Total Security Suite. Its latest iteration, Bitdefender 2013, boasts several new features, including a standalone Web browser that automatically opens when you visit banking and shopping sites, a USB immuniser that scans and cleans any malware found on USB drives and other removable media, and a device anti-theft tool that allow users to remotely lock, wipe and locate their laptops," the statement notes.

According to Intact, Kaspersky Lab's range of anti-virus and Internet security software offers real-time protection from all Internet threats.

The company also says the addition of these products to its portfolio ensures that Intact Software Distribution offers its customers a wide range of security solutions, and the introduction of the StorageCraft range rounds out the company's portfolio by providing data security through a comprehensive backup and recovery solution.

According to Lutz Blaeser, MD of Intact Software Distribution, cyber crime is increasing exponentially, and every computer user is at risk, but threats to data are not limited to attacks from external sources.

"If you're like most computer users, you must have experienced data loss caused by hardware failure or software failure, or even accidental deletion of a file. Backing up computer data is therefore essential."

He adds that with the ever-increasing rates of fraud, phishing and other online risks, all computer users require security software.

"As with all other products, there are many brands available in the market, and with the addition of these ranges, we are ensuring that our customers have access to high-quality protection - whatever brand they prefer. All three of these companies provide solutions of the highest quality."
