You're right, there is more to BI

Johannesburg, 23 Jun 2016

So you know the value of business intelligence (BI) and have experience first-hand how its applications have transformed raw data into meaningful and useful information for your business analysis process, but you just can't shake the feeling that there must be more to it.

You can data mine with the best of them, online analytical processing, querying, reporting and modelling are no longer strange terms and still, there is that nagging conviction that you haven't seen the best of BI.

You may be right. In fact, Synergy - in partnership with Faculty Training Institute - is so sure that BI has more to offer, that it has put together a BI Masterclass that is designed to take your business to the next level.

"One of the current challenges in the field is how to use BI at an operational level to improve business processes, rather than just as a decision support system," says Synergy MD, Christo Bredenkamp.

"To quote Colin White, founder and president of consultancy BI Research, taking BI to the next level isn't easy - it requires a change in thinking about the value of information inside organisations, from the CEO down."

With nearly 40 years' experience to draw on, Synergy has established itself as a leading data business, helping both local and international companies understand the value and potential locked in their numbers. Combining the power of business intelligence, financial performance management and predictive analytics, Synergy helps its clients turn data into information and by doing so, better equip them to boost their revenues, increase their efficiencies and deliver world-class service, while cultivating a practice for acting on insights gleaned.

"We've earned our stripes and, with some of the best BI minds on board, want to help BI users get even more out of the techniques, tools and software applications available to them. The upcoming masterclass was put together precisely for this purpose," says Bredenkamp.

The masterclass, a two-day event, will be held in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, offering delegates the opportunity to learn from experienced BI professionals who are active in the field, and is aimed at those who have been working on BI projects for a while (and may have a few scars to show for it).

The class programme will deal with five important BI topics that will focus less on technology and more on the techniques and skills that every BI practitioner needs to come to grips with, such as analytics, Agile for BI, dimensional data modelling, requirements analysis and visualisation, and content management.

"We are excited about this opportunity to share our knowledge and to see BI users reap even more of its many benefits," says Bredenkamp.
