Progress appoints Veitkus as EMEA GM

Johannesburg, 01 Aug 2011

Progress Software Corporation, a leading software provider that enables enterprises to be operationally responsive, has appointed Dan Veitkus to the position of VP and GM, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He will be responsible for managing a single, integrated and customer-focused sales, professional services and support organisation across the EMEA region, and will accelerate Progress's plans to increase revenue and market share.

Progress Software is distributed in South Africa by AIGS.

Prior to joining Progress, Veitkus was EMEA VP and GM of Channels and Alliances, and GM of Southern Europe for Novell. Before taking on his EMEA leadership role at Novell, he held senior global leadership roles in the company, including VP of Global Field Operations and VP of Global Certification and Training Services.

Veitkus joined Novell from Telcordia Technologies, formerly, Bellcore, where he had worldwide responsibility as executive director of sales, marketing and customer support for the global learning services business unit. Veitkus is an alumnus of Harvard Business School.

Chris Larsen, executive VP of Global Field Operations, Progress Software, says: "Progress has earned a strong reputation around the world for delivering best-in-class enterprise software products, solutions and services to enable and manage mission-critical business applications and help businesses achieve improved operational responsiveness. Progress has established a large base of customers and partners in Europe for more than 25 years, and is represented in the major countries across the region. With the addition of Dan, Progress is well-positioned for increased market share as an enterprise software partner of choice, enabling our customers to be more operationally responsive."

Commenting on his appointment, Veitkus notes: "Progress Software has long been the product and solution partner of choice for customers and partners in EMEA. The company's solutions underpin a broad array of Europe's largest companies and we are proud of the accolades we have earned, such as providing solutions to the top 10 European banks in the region. It will remain our top priority to deliver outstanding solutions, software and support to our stakeholders and extend our brand and achievements in the region."

"We welcome the chance to work with Dan," says Rick Parry, MD of AIGS. "For more than 20 years, Progress has helped power South African companies, and created a model of software as a service and service-oriented architecture that is unique. Dan will play a vital role in extending this legacy."
