Barzani Group wins Laserfiche Run Smarter Award

Barzani Group has been recognised for implementing Laserfiche, supported by Kyocera Document Solutions South Africa, to innovate processes, reduce reliance on paper and cut costs.

Johannesburg, 16 Mar 2021

Barzani Group has won the Sub-Saharan Africa region 2020 Laserfiche Run Smarter Award for increasing productivity and reducing expenses by digitising its paper-based processes. The Laserfiche Run Smarter Awards were first launched in 2005 to honour organisations around the world that use Laserfiche to improve productivity, build innovative processes and achieve exceptional business results.

The company’s Laserfiche Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution was implemented in partnership with Kyocera Document Solutions South Africa, a value-added reseller for Laserfiche since 2015.

This past year, Laserfiche customers worldwide faced disruptions that tested their remote work capabilities, digital collaboration, business continuity and operational resiliency. The 2020 Run Smarter Awards recognised organisations like Barzani Group that developed technology-driven solutions to not only overcome business challenges, but thrive through unprecedented circumstances.

“With the help of Kyocera Document Solutions South Africa,we were able to take our Barzani Development division’s construction industry standard work processes and digitise them to give us live and transparent information,” said Ian le Roux, Systems Manager at Barzani Group.

“This increased our productivity and reduced wastage and expenses, enabling us to further enhance and streamline our processes. The multi-factor authentication system for security measures has been a huge differentiator for us within our organisation and we take our compliance very seriously. The original paper-based building process has been used for many years, but we took the initiative to convert it to a fully operational digital solution,” said Le Roux

Barzani Group digitised a wide range of important processes across several departments, including accounting, finance, human resources and project management. In addition, Kyocera Document Solutions South Africa helped the group to integrate Laserfiche with several software packages, including project control and construction estimating software Candy, cost management software BuildSmart, and data analytics platform Bi-connect. This has improved monitoring and alignment across the entire company.

“We’ve booked a set amount of support hours per month, where we use Kyocera Document Solutions South Africa specialists to assist us when needed,” said Le Roux. “We first established a relationship with the company seven years ago when we started using Kyocera printers. Over the last two years, we have partnered directly with the Content Services department. The team has the deepest knowledge and experience of Laserfiche in the country and we were determined to work with the market leader on this important project.”

Le Roux adds that Kyocera Document Solutions South Africa proved to be a valuable partner. “Instead of selling us a solution and then walking away, the team upskilled our staff so that we could start building our workflows internally.”

August Frauenstein, Solutions Architect at Kyocera Document Solutions South Africa, says the business relationship between the two companies has enabled Barzani Group to experience the benefits of digitisation. “In the move to a paperless, digital workplace, our customer gained a cost-effective way to perform routine tasks quickly and efficiently, ultimately allowing the group to innovate processes and improve operations.”

“This is the third time in recent years that one of Kyocera Document Solutions clients has won the Laserfiche Run Smarter Award and we are delighted to congratulate Barzani Group for the accolade. We look forward to a long-standing relationship,” concludes Frauenstein.
