A 54-year-old man from Johannesburg won R5 076 612 on Saturday after buying his ticket online from LottoFun.

Hanre Garbers, LottoFun marketing and technical manger, says there are a couple of thousand users registered on the site, and this payout is by far the largest.

"Our previous biggest winning amount was R147 000. When amounts as large as this are won, the user comes into our offices and collects the ticket. They then claim their winnings personally," he says.

Garbers says LottoFun does not take a percentage of the winnings, nor does it charge users a subscription fee.

"LottoFun users register free of charge and then set up an account, which they then deposit money into in order to purchase tickets. Users are charged a 15% before tax fee on the orders they make which can be made online or via SMS," says Garbers.

Users can either choose their own numbers or have numbers randomly generated for them.
