Vodacom has rolled out an internal employee engagement platform, the Vodacom Employee Engage app.

The mobile and Web app allows employees to view payslips, access the network operator’s learning platform, link up with global operating companies, and keep up-to-date with company news.

Vodacom recently created the Digital Visitor app that enables visitors to sign in digitally and, in turn, notify the respective contact person to meet them on the premises.

“The introduction of the Employee Engage app is aligned to our vision 2020, which will see us transform into digital solutions company,” says Vodacom group chief human resources officer Mbungela Matimba.

The iOS and Android app also allows employees to book boardrooms and view calendars, access their digital signature, and log health and safety information, as well as maintenance calls.

Vodacom says it is looking to enhance the app by using analytics and insights from employees, and also include smart parking, in-app messaging, and a digital visitor sign-in function.

Shobana Singh, managing executive for facilities at Vodacom, explains: “In addition to creating a seamless work experience for its employees, Vodacom also has the capabilities to tailor-make an Employee Engage app for other organisations looking to adopt the platform.

“We’ve consulted our Internet of things and IT teams to ensure this platform is secure, efficient and user-friendly for our employees. The in-app authentication follows all the protocols from a data and cyber protection perspective.”
