Blockchains have existed for quite some time, but in recent years, they have made a big impact not only in South Africa, but in the rest of the world too.

At one stage, everyone was asking the same question: What is blockchain?

You could summarise it as removing the need for a trusted third party. Instead of using the bank to make a transaction, you can make it directly, without a middle man, on blockchains.

Now that we've only scratched the tip of the iceberg, blockchains are not only limited to transactions, but have been used to make decentralised markets, new and improved social networks, financial services, affordable education and so much more.
