RDB Consulting reinforces world-class standing with ISO 20000 recertification

Johannesburg, 16 Nov 2020

RDB Consulting has achieved ISO 20000 recertification, making it one of very few organisations in Africa to hold this prestigious certification. The ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 information technology – service management certification is achieved only by companies delivering world-class, best practice service, and is awarded only after a stringent audit.

Jennifer Mbesa, General Manager: Operations at RDB Consulting, headed up the recertification process, and notes that months of effort must go into submitting plans, policies and process documentation, backed by evidence that all policies are put into practice, as well as customer surveys to corroborate the submission.

ISO/IEC 20000 certification is achieved by leading European service providers versus African providers at a ratio of around 45:1, putting RDB Consulting in the vanguard of service organisations aligned with global best practice in Africa.

RDB Consulting first achieved ISO 20000 certification in 2017, and its recertification underlines the company’s ongoing and entrenched commitment to service delivery excellence.

The certification, for the provisioning of outsourcing management solutions regarding databases, operating systems and monitoring services covers 20 major areas, including service reporting and continuity, availability and capacity management, information security management, system planning and policy, service delivery management, business relationship management, resource management, responsibility and authority, managing outsourced processes, budgeting and accounting, change and release management and incident, request and problem management.

Jaroslav Cerny, CEO of RDB Consulting, says: "This certification offers tangible proof that we have implemented all COBIT and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) guidelines. It takes tremendous effort and commitment from everyone within an organisation to achieve this, and the entire team feels like a million bucks now that we have done so. The team members were all instrumental in our achieving this, so they have the pride of knowing they are working in accordance with international standards and delivering world-class service to our customers.”

RDB Consulting believes that while the ISO 20000 certification is not yet a requirement for doing business with leading enterprises and state entities in Africa, it will become so in future. “We see it as only a matter of time before this is required in Africa; and when it is, we want to be ready,” says Cerny.
