CCH announced today a restructure of its executive management that results in Aletha Ling being appointed Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Rob Shuter being appointed to the new position of Group Chief Operating Officer (COO). At the same time CCH announced the resignation of Mike Rolfe, previously Group Managing Director.
Commenting on these changes, Executive Chairman Mario Pinheiro said that over the last few months the CCH board and executive had taken specific action to restructure the way in which the CCH group was managed:
"Given the enormous growth facing the CCH group in the future, managing that growth effectively is critical and we believe that this new structure provides the necessary management depth and strength, both strategically and operationally" he said. "Mike Rolfe did not believe he could operate effectively within the new structure and therefore decided to resign from the group. The parting of ways with Mike is very amicable and he has offered to make himself available as a consultant over the next few months to ensure an orderly transition".
Regarding the appointment of Aletha Ling as Group CEO, Pinheiro said that with the appointment of Louis Barclay as Chief Operating Officer of Software Futures Group some months ago, Aletha had been taking an increasing role in the executive management of the CCH Group.
"With the CCH Group moving increasingly into the world of e-commerce and with Aletha`s tremendous success building up Software Futures Group, and her previous experience in running large businesses, such as the IBM Software Business, we felt that she was ideally suited to serve as the CCH group CEO" said Pinheiro.
As part of the restructure CCH also announced the appointment of Rob Shuter as the Group COO. Rob was previously Director of Corporate Development and Strategy and joined the Group in April, being previously a director of SCMB, running its corporate finance and stockbroking operations.
"We believe that with the CCH group now totalling 17 operating companies and employing 1300 people, it was essential to create the Group COO role to focus on the day- to - day operational management of the group". Pinheiro said.
"The combination of Aletha`s entrepreneurial abilities and depth of knowledge of IT and e-commerce together with Rob`s management and commercial expertise creates the ideal combination to run the group".
Pinheiro said that the appointment of the new team would also free him up to focus his energies on further developing the overall vision and strategic development of the group, spending time with customers at a senior level, motivating staff and focusing on the development of ORCA Technologies. In addition, he will continue to spearhead the group`s black empowerment strategy, which Pinheiro sees as central to CCH`s transformation into a South African company for the future.
