Johannesburg, 12 Nov 1999

The appointment of the new State Information Technology Agency (SITA) Board of Directors as well as that of Managing Director, Mr Tebogo Matsoso on Friday 12 November this year, finally put to an end all speculations and anxieties about SITA's leadership.

SITA has now crossed the hurdle of who is at its leadership. The newly appointed are expected to steer SITA into the next century and to ensure that everything is done to make SITA the power of excellence it aims to be.

The newly appointed MD of SITA, Mr Tebogo Matsoso, was previously employed as the MD for Motswedi Technology Group (Pty) Ltd. He assumed the position at Motswedi in 1986 after completing his Bachelors degree in Computer Sciences and a Diploma in Business Management at Fort Hare University in 1985.

He has a full systems development life cycle experience gained through his entire career. Starting off as a trainee programmer he progressed fast to the level of executive, keen to learn and teach that which he had. His experience extends over a large field of systems development including maintenance, enhancements, design, analysis, training implementation and information planning.

Mr Matsoso's highlight came when he was appointed Project Manager for IT, a management task team of the Presidential Review Commission as well as an international team, whose input in the draft on telecommunication in South Africa led to the creation of the South African Telecommunications Act.

The SITA Board of Directors stands as follows:

Chairperson (Non-executive Director) Mr Sello Rasethaba
Managing Director Mr Tebogo Matsoso
Executive Director: IT Ms Makano Mpjapelo
Non-Executive Director: Mr Robinson Ramaite
Non-Executive Director: Legal Expert Ms Khomotso Moroka
Non-Executive Director: Expertise Mr Andile Ngcaba
Non-Executive Director: Expertise Ms Lindiwe Mthimunye
Non-Executive Director: Expertise Mr Gavin Pieterse

A comprehensive strategy for the integration and transformation of SITA is already under way. The Board also adopted a Code of Conduct that binds board members, management and all members of staff.
