Business Connexion recently won Cisco Systems` Customer Advocacy Award at Cisco`s African partner summit. The award reaffirms the company`s commitment to providing products and services best suited to the needs of a developing African continent.
The award recognises the partner that has been "steadfast in driving Cisco IP Communications within the sub-Saharan Africa market. Business Connexion`s engagement with Cisco`s Advanced Services team is a text book example of how together Cisco and the partner strengthen the value proposition to the end customer," said Cisco at the local partner summit where the awards were handed out recently.
Business Connexion received the Customer Advocacy award for the entire region of Russia, Middle East and Africa, being the only South African Cisco partner to receive a regional award.
According to Cisco, Business Connexion won this award because it had developed a competent team of highly skilled resources that are now uniquely positioned to plan, design and implement its advanced technology solutions throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
According to Claudius Barnardo, Cisco product manager at Business Connexion, winning the award shows Business Connexion`s commitment to investing in professional services and skills in the implementation of advanced technologies.
"Employing these skills is really to ensure the client`s peace of mind. It also enables our organisation to grow our internal skills set."
With Business Connexion`s recent acquisition of Intrinsic Technology, a company with offices in Tanzania, Zambia and Angola, Barnardo says the company is perfectly positioned to grow the Cisco offering on the continent.
Business Connexion has been deploying Cisco solutions in Africa over the past four years. One reason for this is that the infrastructure lag in Africa has necessitated the use of more advanced communications technologies such as those based on Internet Protocol. The majority of Cisco`s newer technologies are IP-based so these help "leap-frog" the lag on the continent.
Using IP-based technologies also helps with cost savings and improves mobility, which is essential to doing business in Africa, says Barnardo.
Last year Business Connexion won Cisco`s IP telephony partner of the year award for its IP telephony roll-out in Ethiopia, another testament to Business Connexion`s dedication to the continent.
