Itec, Tiyende unveil venture

Itec and Tiyende Telecommunications yesterday launched a joint venture, Itec Tiyende Telecoms, trading as Itec Telecoms.

The groups announced the formation of the venture, which aims to provide a suite of office telecoms solutions to the corporate market, earlier this month.

With a of about 70 dealers across the country, the venture has a "formidable sales and marketing distribution channel able to take advantage of the changed telecoms landscape", says Itec Telecoms CEO Anthony Stafford.

Itec, which recorded turnover of R750 million last year, is a distributor of a range of office products including copiers, printers, fax machines, document management systems and , while Tiyende Telecommunications is an empowered services provider.

The new venture operates in the areas of private branch exchange products, and Internet services, virtual private network services, mobile solutions and interconnection solutions.

In addition to Stafford as CEO, Itec Telecoms` directors included Maj Gen Ian Deetlefs, Jacques Duyver, Eddie Funde, Gerrie Roodt, Max Sisulu and chief operating officer Shaka Sisulu.
