Imation, a global supplier of removable storage media, plans to donate a percentage of its sales to Cotlands, a non-profit agency that caters for children living with HIV/AIDS.

The campaign, part of the company`s social responsibility programme, will run from 1 September to 31 December. The funds will be raised through the sales of personal solution products, including diskettes, optical products and data centre backup tapes.

"We will be receiving a percentage from the sales made from Imation`s five new products," says Lindy Nieuwenhuizen, marketing manager at Cotlands.

"The products have different price ranges; therefore the total percentage is not yet known. The donation will be used to sponsor 12 national projects that are run by Cotlands. The projects include HIV/AIDS programmes, training and capacity building. We also cater for abused and abandoned children."

"It is a wonderful gesture for International companies such as Imation to support local charities like Cotlands," says Juan David Fajardo, Imation SA sales manager.

"Imation is committed to improving the lives of South Africans. Imation has made a conscious decision to plough a percentage of its profits back into areas where it operates."

Imation plans to launch a communication campaign for the and corporate level to support the initiative.
