GM`s outsourcing deal split
After a two-year evaluation, General Motors (GM) says it will split its $15 billion IT contract among IBM, Capgemini, Wipro, HP, Compuware Covisent and EDS.
Of the five-year contracts, EDS, the main outsourcing provider, will have the most business but its role will be downgraded, reports Network World.
GM has been working to redefine how it will structure IT operations and how it will work with outsourcers. GM has issued a total of 43 request for proposals to cover $2.5 billion to $3 billion in IT spend per year.
India`s BPO sector hiring 'like crazy`
From full-time to part-time, India`s business process outsourcing (BPO) sector is hiring "like crazy", DNA India reports.
In the last couple of years, BPOs have been going up the value chain to embrace a host of knowledge process outsourcing jobs for US clients. These include legal, real estate outsourcing, medical and even Sarbanes-Oxley work.
These businesses and expanding operations have sent BPOs on a hiring spree. It isn`t the only reason. With attrition rates continuing to be as high as 40%, they are constantly in recruitment mode.
BPO a critical IT area
"Maximising the business value of your technology investment" is a new book which highlights BPO as one of seven critical areas of using IT.
The author, David Boyles, claims that IT capabilities are a given these days. "What you need to work for is excellence in the delivery of IT, accurately, to achieve your organisation`s objectives consistently."
An executive and boardroom guide, the book works on the premise that excellence in IT is no accident, reports Business Line.
