Global ICT provider Spescom DataFusion has joined forces with East African-based ICT group Gestalt Gild, in Kenya.
This will allow it to introduce Avaya business contact centre and communication solutions in the East African market.
So says Danny Ross, regional manager of East Africa, who was at the official launch of the partnership and expansion programme last week in Nairobi.
Other than Kenya, Gestalt Gild has operations in Uganda, Ethiopia and Rwanda, where it - in conjunction with Spescom DataFusion - will be able to provide Avaya services.
Spescom DataFusion is already an Avaya platinum partner, operating in the global enterprise telephony solutions and contact centres space.
Ross notes that Avaya provides voice and signalling traffic routed between circuit-switched and packet-switched networks. It also provides call centre and customer relationship management applications, messaging, remote worker, remote office and 'road warrior' solutions.
He adds that the East African market also provides opportunities for the establishment of business process outsourcing initiatives and voice over Internet Protocol solutions.
According to Spescom, this part of the East African market is worth an estimated $7 million.
Ross highlights the importance of Spescom DataFusion's partnership with local business enterprises like Gestalt Gild, as they have strong expertise and knowledge of the market. "The East African region is full of ICT skills which are beneficial to outside investors who do not know the market that well."
The Spescom Group, he says, feels positive about this market and sees Rwanda as a country with vast potential. "Our partnership with Gestalt Gild, in Rwanda, will give us a chance to utilise a potentially strong market."
The company sees Rwanda as the next call centre hub of Africa, says Ross. He adds that the group is looking to partner with other ICT companies in West Africa and in other more immediate markets like Botswana, Mauritius, Tanzania and Zambia, to expand its products.
