HP claims server leadership

Johannesburg, 13 Sep 2006

Figures released by the International Corporation (IDC) show HP holds a 52.1% share of the industry standard server market in SA.

IDC`s worldwide quarterly server tracker report has also confirmed HP`s global leadership in the x86 server market, its top position in total worldwide server unit shipments, and its leadership in total worldwide factory revenue and units for the x86-64, AMD Opteron and Intel Itanium-based servers.

According to the report, HP also leads in all Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems combined, which comprise more than 96% of all servers shipped worldwide.

"We will continue focusing our efforts on the industry-standard server market and expect strong growth in important emerging markets like blades, Integrity and Linux," says Andrew McNiven, industry standard server business unit manager at HP SA.
