LayerOne opens Cape Town office

Johannesburg, 08 Mar 2007

LayerOne, the Nokia Intellisync and Option Wireless Distributor for South Africa, recently announced it has opened a branch in the Cape Town area as from the beginning of March 2007.

The company, which has enjoyed a 300% growth in revenue in the last four months, felt this would be the right time to expand its operations beyond Johannesburg.

LayerOne provides a focused range of products that help companies get real benefit out of mobility, which includes Intellisync and HSDPA. The combination of these products has proved very powerful and today LayerOne is adding 700 to 1 000 new users to its network per month which is growing at a further rate of 20% each month.

"Cape Town is becoming a very important part of our growth and over the last three months has accounted for 25% of our turnover as a company. We have secured some large contracts in the area for HSDPA and Intellisync, and we now require local support to manage and grow these opportunities," says Stuart Hardy, MD of LayerOne.

LayerOne believes there is enough reason to even look at Durban at this stage; however, the company doesn't want to make the mistake of rushing into every region. LayerOne does have representation in those areas through parent company Internet Solutions and other partners, as well as in areas such as Port Elizabeth and East London.

"I will be spending the next six months in Cape Town to set up the new office and ensure everything is running smoothly before returning back to Johannesburg. In that time we plan to extend the partnerships that we have in Johannesburg to Cape Town and source new partners and resellers in the area," ends Hardy.
