Ingram Micro lands Samsung business

Johannesburg, 15 Apr 2008

Ingram Micro has landed Samsung's optical disk drives and hard disk drives distribution business.

According to Dennis Brett, business manager of IT products at Samsung Electronics SA, it was a logical decision to award the business to the top distributor in the world.

"In SA, they have a proven and successful back-end with MB Technologies," says Brett.

"For Samsung, to get the component business into Ingram Micro is a great win. With the Ingram Micro name as distributor and their excellent go-to-market on our side, we are confident about our prospects in the country."

Samsung Electronics already has existing relationships with other distributors in the MB Technologies group and decided to stay with them and use Ingram Micro SA as its dedicated component distributor.

According to John David, head of product marketing at Ingram Micro SA, the new products complement the existing offerings in the stable.

"As the Samsung appointment shows, we are attracting the top brands in the market. Samsung is synonymous with quality and value for money. As such, it has become one of the preferred brands in the market when it comes to LCDs, DVD drives and hard disks," he says.
