Xerox eyes India

In a bid to tap the Indian printing market, which is expected to grow to $177.3 million by 2012, Xerox is all set to bring its "laser colour continuous feed technology" to India, says The Financial Express.

The company will launch this technology simultaneously in India and Drupa 2008, the world print media trade show, in Germany in October.

The technology will enable high definition work such as printing of 1 300 pages per minute. Currently, in India such high-speed printing technology is available only for black and white printing but the launch of this technology will enable colour printing too.

Consolidated to distribute Fotopod

Consolidated Vending said its photobooth operating unit Snap Digital Imaging has signed an agreement with Cybervitrine SA.

The company will have exclusive and operating rights of Cybervitrine's photobooth, the Fotopod, in the UK, states Hemscott.

The photobooths and vending machines operator said it is not possible at this stage to quantify the possible effect of the Cybervitrine agreement on future revenue.

Canon introduces new printer

Canon has released a mobile printer, the PIXMA iP100, which will replace the iP90v, reports PC Magazine.

Lightweight and compact at 4.4 pounds and 7.3 by 12.7 by 2.4 inches (HWD), the iP100 can fit into a carry-on bag or on a desk with limited space.

It offers several improvements over its predecessor, such as increased colour resolution (to a maximum 9 600 by 2 400dpi). Canon claims the iP100 is the first mobile printer to have a minimum 1-picoliter droplet size and increased print speed.
