Tech enthusiasts can get a hands-on experience of the latest products at ITWeb's DigitalLife Expo 09.

The digital technology consumer lifestyle exhibition is on for three days - from 27 to 29 March - at the Sandton Convention Centre, and features products and services across the entire digital spectrum.

According to Christo van Gemert, consulting editor of ITWeb's DigitalLife magazine, those who attend will see “smartphones, netbooks and notebooks, high-definition media devices, home and security systems, home entertainment systems and more.

”You will also be able to learn your way around these devices at free, hands-on workshops during the expo.”

Van Germet says the expo will be “a great place to connect with friends and family,” with highlights such as the launch of new technologies and opportunities to interact with celebrities. “You will also get a chance to experience the latest technologies in home automation at a life-size, walk-through digital home.”

Maximum digital tech

DigitalLife Expo: Catch it on camera and WIN!

Get snap-happy when you visit the DigitalLife Expo this weekend at the Sandton Convention Centre. From 10am Friday to Sunday, have your finger on the button to photograph whatever catches your eye. E-mail your pics, plus a cool caption, to itnews@itweb.co.za and if your pic catches our eye, you'll win a Canon Ixus 100 IS Red camera, valued at R3 500. Remember to include your name, or pseudonym, and contact details. We'll post a selection of pictures as they arrive, and the winner will be announced on 6 April.

Exhibitors will provide a space for visitors not only to view, but experience first hand some of the most recent entries into the market, and even purchase these if they get hooked, says Van Gemert.

“People will get a chance to witness an exclusive promotion of Microsoft's Windows 7 and learn the latest techniques for home networking, voice over Internet Protocol communications, business and home computing, printing, storage and backup, and much more - everything consumers need to power their digital homes or run a business from home using the revolutionary new operating system,” he says.

Visitors will also learn more about smartphone technology, GPS navigation units, digital photography, and digital content management. A section of the expo will focus on security systems, surveillance cameras, personal and car tracking technologies and other digital security innovations for office, home and personal safety.

Free workshops on connectivity, home entertainment, digital content, photography and smartphones will also take place.

Play and be rewarded

A number of competitions are lined up for the expo that will see visitors take home new product offerings.

One visitor will go away with a goodie bag of digital products and technologies for their home, valued at R250 000.

In addition, the first 250 through the door every day will win a beta or pre-release test version of Windows 7 Ultimate Edition.

The first 50 visitors to complete the Workgroup/Norton (Symantec) lifestyle survey will receive a copy of Norton Internet Security 2009.

Patricia Czakan, managing editor of DigitalLife magazine, promises a gaming lounge, the new Xbox race chair and other exciting digital game technologies.

“People should also look out for the Canon 'say cheese' girls during the expo. They will be taking pictures of the visitors. Those visitors who present these pictures to the DigitalLife stand get a free copy of the DigitalLife magazine.”

The DigitalLife life stand will host the “Best of Digital” display - a selection of top products that got the magazine's “Editor's Choice” stamp of approval.
