Datacentrix CEO Gerhard Uys has sold four million shares - approximately 2% of the company's issued share capital - for R18.4 million.
Uys is currently out of the country and was unavailable for comment. However, Datacentrix chairman Gary Morolo says the sale is no cause for shareholder concern.
Morolo, who represents Datacentrix's black-empowered shareholder Aka Capital on the company's board, explains: "Uys has never sold any of his shares since the company's listing almost a decade ago. The sale was approved by myself and probably is due to Uys diversifying his portfolio."
Uys sold the shares on Wednesday for R4.60 per share, just over 2% higher than the previous day's closing price of R4.50. Yesterday, the company's share price closed at R4.70.
Uys still has a significant shareholding in the JSE-listed lT company, says Morolo, with between 10 million and 11 million shares still in his portfolio following this transaction.
