TallyGenicom SA has released two new mid-range serial matrix printers, the 2248 and 2348.
Having recently opened a local office, TallyGenicom says the printers will be available through its distributors, Tarsus, Big 5 Distribution and Printegration.
David Terry of TallyGenicom SA says the company took a strategic decision in 2006 to grow its mid- to lower-end product offering.
He says the 2248 and 2348 reach printing speeds of 448 characters per second and the new 2x48 family performs at a level of 49 decibels (dBa). The reduced noise feature make them ideal for point of sale environments, offices, hospitals, hotels and other environments where quiet operation is essential, he adds.
Both models feature rear feeds, enabling a switch between either continuous/multipart forms or single sheets. Terry says in addition to standard printing requirements, the new printers also support barcode printing and industry codes without the need for third party boxes or software.
These printers use a high yield 4 million character ribbon, and are rated as having a MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) of 20 000 hours. Other features include 24 pin print head and a 128K input buffer.
