Audiovisual market stagnating
A report on the UK audiovisual equipment market by analysts Plimsoll has predicted sales growth to stay at 0% and job losses to grow, reports AVinteractive.
It says over 50% of companies are already experiencing declining sales.
Despite the problems facing the overall UK economy, Plimsoll feels players in the UK audiovisual equipment sector need to be prepared for a series of opportunities that will present themselves in the year ahead.
NMAV expands product line
New Media Audio Visual (NMAV) will expand its product line to include MXL Microphone's line of studio-quality microphones. MXL Microphones is the professional audio division of Marshall Electronics, says Emailwire.
Based in the UK, NMAV, is a distributor of audio/video equipment to England, the Middle East and Africa.
The company has committed to carrying a wide selection of MXL's product line including the MXL V69 Mogami Edition, V67G, V67i, MXL 990/991 and a selection of USB microphones. More models are planned as UK distribution increases.
Courtroom goes hi-tech
Boone County officials in Missouri, US, have unveiled a hi-tech courtroom equipped with three flat-panel television screens, several smaller monitors, 13 microphones and 20 speakers, says the Columbia Tribune.
Prosecuting Attorney Dan Knight said trials these days require digital evidence, video from police patrol cars or surveillance cameras as well as audio of 911 calls. Presenting digital evidence sometimes can be cumbersome as attorneys have to set up and break down equipment and then make sure every juror can hear and see it.
In the new courtroom, evidence can be presented multiple ways: through a document camera, DVD or VHS player or from attorneys' laptop computers, which can be connected at the attorney tables.
