Sentech, pacesetter with broadband wireless (BBW) Internet access products, yesterday announced the extension of MyWireless availability to Nelspruit.
The 'capital of the Lowveld' becomes the first city outside the major metropolitan areas of Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban to be covered by the product range that is revolutionising Internet access for private users and small business.
Sentech CEO Dr Sebiletso Mokone-Matabane told an audience of provincial dignitaries and business leaders: "As the first third-generation broadband wireless provider in Africa, it is Sentech's mission to address the challenge of the digital divide by creating affordable, convenient and reliable access to relevant communication technologies.
"Internet access and broadband wireless connectivity have a huge role as developmental tools - not only in the Big City, but across SA.
"Sentech lost no time in bringing its most affordable BBW products to Nelspruit and we are confident the local community and the business sector will make optimum use of these opportunities."
MyWireless creates true wireless connectivity via BBW. No telephone lines are necessary. MyWireless clients use receiver sets to tune in to encrypted radio signals. Coverage is enabled by high-site transmitters. Sentech has set up two high sites in Nelspruit.
Rigorous acceptance test procedures confirm coverage of the CBD of Nelspruit from the sites, said Pragasen Nagan, Sentech General Manager: Partner Management and Sales.
MyWireless offers e-mail services and always-on Internet with no connection fees and a fixed monthly fee.
There are three products in the range: MyWireless Standard, MyWireless Professional and MyWireless Premium, each with different data transfer speeds suitable for specific users groups - from the private user-browser to professionals and small business.
Customers pay a monthly subscription - a predictable, cost-efficient payment system with no month-end surprises.
Nagan said Nelspruit marketing campaigns were being launched in association with BreezeNet, a well-established network service provider with a strong customer-base in the area.
Nagan added: "Market research indicates high local demand for broadband wireless products. We intend to maximise the market opportunity by creating a series of value-adding bundled options at competitive prices.
Sentech is a signal-provider to South African radio and TV broadcasters and the ICT pioneer which was first to market in this country with Internet Protocol-based broadband wireless (BBW) products and services. Among its best-known BBW brands are MyWireless Standard, MyWireless Professional and MyWireless Premium, which bring Net-access, e-mail and other value-adding services to consumers, micro-business and SMEs respectively.
