A survey by global market research firm, GfK Retail & Technology, has revealed that 35% of PC users in Europe choose Kaspersky Lab anti-virus solutions over others available on the market.
The results underline the leading position of the brand in the home user segment of the Western European security software market, Kaspersky says. “The results also reflect the growing emphasis now being placed on IT security issues.”
Ralf Tegethoff, regional director of consumer sales in Europe for Kaspersky Lab, says cybercrime today has become a well-organised business, aimed at extorting as much money as possible from users.
“The professionalism of today's cybercriminals is a far cry from the self-taught virus writers of earlier times. As a result, the quantity and, more importantly, the quality of threats have grown considerably over the last few years. We are justifiably proud of the fact that European users have chosen our technologies and solutions to protect their data.”
The research was conducted at IT retail outlets during August through October last year. The specialists at GfK Retail & Technology based their results on interviews with several thousand customers who purchased anti-virus software in six countries across Western Europe.
