Johannesburg, 09 Feb 2005

Internet Solutions (IS), a leading converged communications service provider, is providing much of the infrastructure at the inaugural Women`s World Cup of Golf to be held at Fancourt Hotel and Country Club, George, from 11 to 13 February.

In a co-operative project with Sentech, IS is providing the World Cup with wireless connectivity, wireless hotspots, Internet caf'e, live streaming to the World Cup Web site, managed hosting of the Web site and security features. A major innovation is live wireless scoring from the course, using IS technology in partnership with Sentech. Acer provides the hardware.

"For SA to host such a unique event in its inaugural year is a real achievement and puts the country on the map for one of the fastest growing women`s sports in the world. We are delighted to be so actively involved, not only as sponsor, but to be able, through world-class technology, to show the whole world how our country can measure up globally against the best," says Kate Michalaro, marketing manager at IS.

IS is providing the world`s golfing press corps with communications requirements through IS managed services both at Fancourt and the World Cup Web site where real-time scores will be available 24 x 7 throughout the tournament. This Web site is expected to receive thousands of hits daily from fans and media around the world.

"Visitors to both the Web site and Fancourt will see what a magnificent venue is being used and how beautiful our country is," concluded Michalaro.

The Women`s World Cup of Golf consists of teams of two golfers, representing 20 countries across the globe. The event kicks off with a Pro-Am on Thursday 10 February, followed by three days of the World Cup. The event is endorsed by the Ladies European Tour (LET), Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), and the SA Women`s Professional Golf Association (WPGA).
