Companies in the market for new software can now obtain 100% financing of the total cost from Square One Capital, the financial services company within the JSE-listed IT-based business enabling solutions provider, Square One Solutions Group.
"We have always endeavoured to offer an expanding range of innovative rental and financial services to customers," says Square One Capital sales manager, Jackie Muscat.
According to Muscat, the industry approach has predominantly been to offer financing of only 25% of the value of recognised, international brand software, because it is a high-risk area in terms of the licensing structures and attendant legal complications.
"However, we are now offering 100% financing for software if the risk profile of the client is right and the brand of software is pervasive, such as Microsoft, SAP and Accpac. Part of our business strategy is also to branch out of the traditional office IT equipment financing arena."
The result is that Square One Capital is now also expanding its financial services to cover items really remote from traditional IT, such as commercial vehicles, specialist mining equipment, cash-in-transit systems, commercial aircraft and even golf carts.
Muscat says the company's long-standing national channel infrastructure for colour printers, specialised industrial printers, servers, networking equipment and other IT hardware was instrumental in facilitating the expansion into new territory.
"Some of our dealers in smaller centres get involved in businesses that fall outside pure IT and office equipment needs, and, as a result we've had steadily increasing requests to finance specialist vehicles or industrial equipment. It is proving to be a good growth area for us and has broadened our overall risk base."
