Kuwaiti mobile operator Wataniya Telecom has opened a development centre aimed at enhancing the development possibilities for mobile applications in the Middle East and African region.
Wataniya`s Wireless World will assist in the development of innovative new services and facilitate a fast-track route to the marketplace for them.
The centre is working in cooperation with Ericsson Mobility World, in order to feature the latest in application development technology and specialist resources, as well as mobile network technology.
"Wireless World is the region`s first centre dedicated to providing developers, governments and companies with the tools and expertise needed for wireless application and content development," says Andrei Torriani, CTO at Wataniya.
"Developers will now be able to take ideas for wireless services from concept to reality using the centre`s development tools, expertise and testing environments."
He says that thanks to the cooperation between the centre and the globally successful Ericsson Mobility World Developer Programme, Wireless World developers will have the opportunity to leverage the expertise of Ericsson Mobility World centres around the world.
Wireless World offers a wide range of services including consultancy, development, testing, certification and training, and has links with the major handset manufactures to give developers access to the latest pre-release mobile devices.
The centre will also offer developers additional services such as workshops, seminars, testing and development facilities as well as a wide range of knowledge and literature.
"Wireless World provides developers in the Middle East and African region with a commercial route to market with local and global distribution networks for their applications," says Torriani.
