Nigeria introduces multichannel pay-TV
Africa Independent Television (AIT), a subsidiary of Daar Communications, is set to introduce a multichannel pay-TV platform that it says will revolutionise broadcasting in Nigeria, reports All Africa.
The chairman of Daar Communications, chief Aleogho Raymond Dokpesi, said Daar was already upgrading its facilities in each station across the country from an analogue to a digital platform.
Dokpesi, who decried the fact that Nigeria's broadcasting sector lagged that of South Africa despite the fact that it will celebrate 50 years of broadcasting next year, emphasised that Nigeria needs to start playing a leadership role in the continent by lifting the standard of its broadcasting.

Regionalisation trend in post-production
With the film industry increasingly getting organised, more players are realising the market potential. The growth story continues, as world-class technology finds its way not only into Bollywood, but also into regional markets, reports Television Point.
Though a few big players in advertising, post-production of films and broadcasting already use high-end systems and technology, mid-tier players have only recently started to grab their share of the growth.
Speaking with Televisionpoint.com, Pankaj Kedia, regional manager, systems, South-East Asia and India at Autodesk India, says: "Regionalisation is the most recent trend in the field of film and television post-production, especially in the use of advanced systems. Earlier, though production was done in the regional markets, digital post-production was done in Mumbai."
