Vodacom has introduced a service that will allow consumers to send 30-second voice messages to another Vodacom customer without having to talk to them.
The Short Voice Service (SVS) will be available to Vodacom subscribers, free of charge, until 9 November, after which it will cost 90c, anytime of the day.
Vodacom says to use the SVS service, subscribers can dial the #digit followed by the number of the recipient (ie, #082 123 4567) and leave the message.
“A warning beep will sound 25 seconds into the recording to warn the speaker that the 30-second limit has almost been reached,” it adds.
The recipient receives an alert by means of an SMS to dial #99 to retrieve their SVS, free of charge. According to the company, it is not a subscription service, so no applications need to be made to use it.
The service is available to all Vodacom customers, including contract, prepaid and top-up customers.
