
Nigeria gets free mobile TV
Nokia has signed an agreement with MTN Nigeria and Digital Mobile TV, to enable Nigerian viewers to watch MultiChoice's DStv on their cellphones for free, says IT News Africa.
To activate the MobileTV service, subscribers need to insert an MTN SIM card into a digital video broadcast handheld Nokia handset.
Philip De La Vega, GM of Nokia Nigeria, says: “This showcases the enormous advancements in devices technology, now enabling TV on-the-go-for consumers.”
3D gaming on the horizon
Samsung and NVIDIA have rolled out 3D stereoscopic technology in the Middle East, reports iStockAnalyst.
The bundled 3D kit comprising of a Samsung 2233RZ monitor, NVIDIA wireless glasses, a high-power information retrieval emitter and software, forms the foundation for a new consumer 3D stereo ecosystem for gaming and PCs.
Serge Lemonde, NVIDIA marketing director, says: "For gamers, 3D Vision for GeForce represents a whole different way of experiencing the game, and for developers, it unlocks the potential of making the game literally pop off the screen.”
Motorola signs $2.9m contract
The Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC), in the US, has signed a $2.9-million contract with Motorola to provide a suite of dispatch consoles, control stations and portable and mobile radios, reveals TMCnet.
Motorola officials claim these products will be used for a new radio system that makes use of Orange County's existing Motorola Smartzone interoperable network.
Marshall Wright, Motorola VP for sales, says: “With the new system in place, OUC will have the ability to communicate with the various public safety agencies throughout the region and in a very efficient manner.”
