3D, goggle-free display
Holografika has unveiled HoloVizio technology that provides multiple viewers with a three-dimensional (3D) display that naturally changes as people shift their perspective, says Gizmag.
The technology is being researched by the EUR3.7 million EU-funded Coherent Project, which aims to provide a networked holographic audio-visual platform to support real-time collaborative 3D interaction between geographically distributed teams.
Instead of crafting a screen that tries to fool the brain with stereoscopic images, the HoloVizio system attempts to recreate the properties of a window - a two-dimensional surface that portrays shifts in perspective with changes in the light pattern.
Distributor inks touchscreen deal
Australian audio-visual importer Image Design Technology (IDT) has inked an agreement with Korean-based integrated touchscreen vendor Kortek. The news coincides with the company's launch into New Zealand, says ARNNet.
"The whole interactive space is very hot at the moment," IDT MD Gerry Wilkins said. "We're seeing massive growth in selling large-format touch technology."
Wilkins said IDT's Next Window dealers would be offered access to the Kortek products first. IDT has 13 Next Window authorised dealers, but hopes to pump that up to 24 over the coming months.
