Banking group Absa has renewed its agreement to provide its Internet customers with the Trend Micro PC-cillin anti-virus software for another year.
Absa has been providing customers with free PC-cillin 2003 software since August 2003 following the identity theft scare that occurred earlier that year, when several of its customers had money stolen out of their accounts.
The bank says the PC-cillin software offers virus detection and cleaning with an integrated firewall to safeguard home users` PCs from hackers and malicious code threats.
The offer has been extended to provide free renewal of these anti-virus software packages as well as subscription to the more advanced PC-cillin Internet Security v.11 until 31 July 2005. The features include privacy data protection, a customisable anti-spam application, detection and removal of spyware as well as scanning of outgoing e-mail messages and attachments.
"Extending the free software offer is part of our commitment to our customers to continuously offer peace of mind and confidence in using our Internet banking services," says Juliette du Preez, managing executive of Absa`s delivery channel services.
Absa customers can phone local Trend Micro distributor SecureData toll-free at 080 802 8800 for technical support.
