Abu Dhabi go mobile
InfoLogix, a technology provider of enterprise mobile solutions for the healthcare and commercial industries, has been chosen by the General Authority for Health Services, in partnership with ITQAN, to provide a mobile technology computing platform in Abu Dhabi, says Albawaba.
The agreement calls for InfoLogix to provide a healthcare mobility solution encompassing more than 600 mobile point-of-care technology devices, to support the implementation of a Cerner healthcare information system across five hospitals.
This represents the first phase in an overall strategy for these hospitals to move from mobility to advanced RFID solutions.
The digital house returns
It isn`t about Internet refrigerators; it`s about facilitating the home healthcare of the aging population through digital technology, says Information Week.
James Albert, CIO of Masonicare, says we`re only a couple of years away from pervasive digital technology enabling the aging, ailing baby-boom generation to live out their lives at home instead of in nursing homes or hospital rooms.
Masonicare, a not-for-profit in Wallingford, is the state`s leading provider of healthcare and retirement living communities for seniors, and Albert has been CIO since 1998.
Technology saves money, lives
Hospitals nationwide are spending hundreds of millions of dollars a year on technology, trying to differentiate themselves from competitors and keep up with patient demands, reports The Enquirer.
Walk through the halls of Mercy Hospital and computers and technology are everywhere. A nurse can use a touch screen on the new BedBoard system to indicate that a room is clean and ready for another patient.
In rooms, there are "smart pumps" that hospital administrators hope can virtually eliminate human error in dispensing intravenous fluids. Doctors can view digitized x-ray images from their offices and home computers.
