Agilitude is on track with hitting its targets and now aims to be the dominant Salesforce player in SA, almost two years after its initial launch.
The start-up, unveiled in May 2013, was founded by IT veterans, including former South African Revenue Service CIO Ken Jarvis and former MiX Telematics Africa CIO Quinton Pienaar.
Agilitude's current board and shareholders also include Steven Sidley (former Anglo American CTO), Patrick Evans (ex-regional executive for Symantec Africa) and Bruce MacLaren (previously head of IBM banking and Nedbank).
Pienaar, also its CEO, says the company has grown from being a two-man band to currently employing around 18 people, a figure that varies depending on how many contractors it has on board at any given time.
Pienaar says in about five years, its staff count could be around 100 to 200, but the company does not want to lose its ability to be agile.
Agilitude launched on the back of bringing cloud-based customer relationship management (CRM) software Salesforce into SA as the first reseller, but took a while to understand the "so what" factor that comes with persuading customers to buy into its offering, says Pienaar.
He notes its solution was to use Salesforce to design a full customer experience that looks at customer touch points, enabling clients to provide a seamless service across various platforms, such as e-mail and social media.
Pienaar notes the company hit both its first and second year targets and, while he cannot give figures, says these were set in accordance with a "high growth strategy".
Agilitude is now expanding its offerings and will add Saleforce's cloud marketing product to its core CRM product, making it the only player in Africa to offer this combination, says Pienaar.
Pienaar adds, while SA is its primary market, there is a lot of activity in Africa and the continent will continue to be a focus. He notes Agilitude will continue adding to its product range and aims to be a dominant player in this field in SA.
