Alcatel extends its DSL Service Assurance solution with Micromuse`s Netcool Suite

Alcatel and Micromuse Inc, the leading provider of business and service assurance software, announced today that they are working together to provide a unique DSL service assurance solution. The joint solution is designed to help service providers reduce operational costs and ensure the high quality service delivery and satisfaction of DSL customers.

The solution will distribute accurate real-time information about network performance and service-impacting problems throughout the service provider organisation and proactively provide service reports to end-customers and Internet service providers, improving their visibility into service status and helping avoid call centre congestion.

Based on Micromuse`s broad-ranging Netcool software suite, the Alcatel DSL assurance solution will complement the global Alcatel DSL OSS portfolio by offering assurance functionality pre-packaged with Alcatel`s DSL management solution. Alcatel, through its global services organisation, will support the customisation and integration of the solution within service providers` legacy networks and information systems.

The combination of Micromuse`s powerful Netcool software suite and Alcatel`s extensive expertise in DSL management will allow service providers to improve operational efficiency, gain greater control over service quality, reduce churn through improved customer service, and optimise capital investments through integration with existing legacy management systems. It also enables a scaleable assurance solution designed to support rapid DSL market growth, as well as new and enhanced value-added services, such as video and teleworking.
