Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has appointed Craig Dawson as the new local AMD representative for SA and sub-Saharan Africa. Dawson takes up the post this week.

Although based in Johannesburg, Dawson will be responsible for promoting the AMD processor brand in the emerging markets of sub-Saharan Africa, to expand AMD`s presence in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

"By establishing new sales representation in SA, we believe we can leverage the growing business momentum and build the groundwork for long-term success in this attractive market," says Jochen Polster, sales director and GM, AMD EMEA.

"Dawson`s appointment supports AMD`s goal of putting the right infrastructure and people in place to position AMD as a key player in Africa," says Pierre Brunswick, AMD regional sales GM, Africa, CIS countries and Middle East.

"The years of experience Dawson has accumulated in developing and implementing channel strategies with companies such as Oracle, SAP and JD Edwards will be a great to AMD."
